In October 2024, 24 kulans were transported from a national park in southern Kazakhstan to a reintroduction center in Central Asia's Torgai Steppe! 🚚🌍 After an impressive journey of 2,317 km in almost 50 hours, they arrived safely.
The kulans are an important building block for the development of a new wild donkey population in central Kazakhstan. 🐎 The animals will remain in a protected enclosure until spring 2025 to get used to their new environment. After that, they will be released into the wild - equipped with GPS collars, financed by the#24gooddeeds#AdventCalendar2023. Thanks to GPS technology, rangers can continue to monitor and protect them in the endless expanses of the Golden Steppe. 🏞️💚
Together we will ensure that wildlife in Kazakhstan has a safe future! 🌱🦓
